Position Summary Manages all warehouse activities. Manages the warehouse ensuring the receipt, co-ordination and safety of goods coming through a warehouse. Also ensures that orders arrive and are dispatched on time to the appropriate destinations and in the expected quantities. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks in all aspects of the warehouse operation. Leads and directs the work of others. Typically reports to a senior manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Able to communicate and work along with all employees. Lead associates with daily tasks and work load priorities. Maintains a high standard for safety, cleanliness and overall work practices. Responsible for completing daily shift paperwork. Determines staffing needs based on work load and schedules staff accordingly. Assigns workers to specific duties based on work load and shipping schedules. Reviews and updates operational procedures as necessary and ensures they are communicated to and understood by the warehouse associates. Tracks productivity and qualify performance by individual, function, and department. Works with Inventory Control to ensure the highest level of inventory accuracy possible. Advises employees on handling of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems. Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions to resolve. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. Issues written and oral instructions. Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances. Ensuring all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met. Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises 30-50 associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software and MS Outlook. Other Skills and Abilities Spanish is helpful, but not necessary.
