2026 Job Description Girls Confidence Camp Internship Program Opportunity Company: Hattie B. Black Women in Progress Program: Girls Confidence Camp Training: In Person & Virtual Training Dates: Camp Location: Prescott, Arizona Camp Duration: July 5-10, 2025 (Intern arrives July 5th for preparation) Our Background Hattie B. Black Women in Progress is proud to celebrate nine years of empowering young women and four years of immersive overnight camp experiences. Girls Confidence Camp is dedicated to fostering leadership, unity, and self-esteem in girls aged 6-17 through interactive workshops led by experienced women professionals. We are currently seeking an Assistant Intern Manager who will play a crucial role in supporting the leadership team, organizing camp logistics, and mentoring younger interns and campers. Arrive one day early (July 6) to assist with preparation and setup. Oversee and provide guidance to both first-year and second-year interns, offering mentorship and constructive feedback. Assist camp leadership with daily operations, logistics coordination, and activity supervision. Mentor and support first-year interns, providing guidance, feedback, and ensuring their growth throughout the camp. Serve as a positive role model, fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all campers. Proven enthusiasm and passion for supporting young girls and young women, empowering their growth Demonstrated leadership abilities and taking initiative, ideally from previous camp experience Exceptional communication and team collaboration skills Ability to accept feedback, follow directions, and adapt quickly to ensure a positive and supportive environment for campers and fellow staff. Ability to independently handle responsibilities. Facilitate team-building activities, icebreakers, and pre-camp bonding experiences. Provide oversight and ensure the smooth execution of workshops and camp activities. Demonstrate proactive leadership by promptly addressing and resolving challenges. Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by camp leadership. The training we provide will cover: Comprehensive training focused on advanced leadership, mentorship, and professional development Program planning, evaluation, and strategic communication Accommodations, transportation, and meals throughout the camp A nurturing environment that encourages continued personal and professional growth AssistantIntern Manager will receive will be paid hourly as a W2 employee, equating to $1,700 upon successful completion of the internship program. Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of camp. Ability to attend and actively participate in ALL mandatory trainings in-person and virtual. Commitment to serve the entire duration of camp, July 5-10, 2025. Physical capability to manage camp responsibilities, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 lbs, and working outdoors under varying weather conditions. Successful completion of updated background check and reference verification. **Preference given to qualified undergraduate candidates who have previously served as interns Working Conditions/Environment: Physical Expectations: Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with campers for long periods. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Outdoor Exposure: Work in mild rocky areas, furnished cabins, and outdoor settings during summer months. Weather Conditions: Frequent monsoons and outdoor activities (hiking, kayaking, archery). Moderate-High Stress Situations: Managing large groups of children and assisting with first-year and second-year interns requires patience, adaptability, and strong leadership. Cell Phone Policy To foster a safe, engaging, and distraction-free environment, interns are required to surrender cell phones upon camper check-in. Phones will be securely stored and returned at designated times or at the conclusion of daily activities. Exceptions will be made in cases of emergency with prior approval. ***Note: This internship position is contingent upon securing grant funding.
