Assistant Store Manager

Under the leadership of the Store Manager and District Manager, the Assistant Store Manager will assist with the day-to-day operations and management of the store and donation area. To ensure efficient and cost-effective operation through world-class customer service, processing donated goods, quality control, and maintaining a productive workforce.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for all management duties, including opening/closing, all day-to-day store operations, and management of store associates, including recommendations for associate change of status decisions.
• Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating, as well as the development of associates within the framework of GWH policies, procedures, and the associates' job descriptions.
• Adhere to working the established rotating schedule unless otherwise directed or approved by the District Manager.
• Maintain open availability to assist the store with management and leadership needs to include time frames outside of the management rotating schedule if needed.
• Ensure completion of the daily management duties as provided by GWH's leadership team.
• Ensure the Safety Program is being managed efficiently.
• Manage and influence the team by communicating clear company daily, weekly, monthly, and annual goals.
• Partner with the store manager to create, prepare, and post schedules, review/approve electronic time sheets, and monitor labor hours.
• Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities at POS registers/safe.
• Execute GWH's workflow as designed by training, coaching, and documenting associate performances while assessing production progress on an hourly basis.
• Prepare and administer personnel and disciplinary actions.
• Ensure store supplies and bank orders are placed in a timely manner.
• Supervise and assist with the training and development of associates.
• Help ensure the proper handling and processing of incoming donation flow in and out of the store by always utilizing proper equipment according to GWH policies and procedures.
• Coach by Walking Around (CBWA) for approximately 80% of the time on duty to ensure associates are meeting minimum expectations.
• Accurately operate all store systems and ensure financial and statistical counts are completed (donor counts, production standards, etc.).
• Help ensure the timeliness of proper rotation of apparel and hard goods according to GWH policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

• Must safely conduct work; maintain good housekeeping standards, have all aisles and pathways to fire exits clear and free from clutter, and keep work areas neat and clean.
• Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Management experience is preferred.
• One (1) to two (2) years of retail sales experience is preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, evenings, overnight, and weekend shifts.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Transaction Value, Donor Value, Donors Integrity and Growth, Budget Sales vs Actual Sales, Payroll as a Percent of Revenue, Budgeted Profit vs Actual Profit, Retention Rate, Customer Service, Change Round up as a % of Transactions, Active with Zero hours TMs vs Goal, Administration - Performance management/Training, Reporting Team Meeting Minutes, Safety, Goodwill LMS Training, etc.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

The ability to stand, twist, bend, squat, reach, kneel, push, and pull. Able to lift up to 40 lbs. and, occasionally, lift/move items up to 100 lbs. (e.g., large bags of donations, televisions, furniture, etc.) Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. An indoor work environment with occasional exposure to outside temperatures. The noise level in the normal work environment is usually moderate.
