Electrician

Job Description Position Purpose Under direction, installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls electrical components of equipment to keep electrically dependent equipment operational. Primary Duties/Responsibilities Follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Participate in safety training and report unsafe conditions. Install, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul electrical equipment. Includes installation of instrumentation when necessary. Assist supervisor in implementing a preventive maintenance schedule. Maintain repair and maintenance records. Perform other duties of a similar level and nature as assigned. Work Environment Work is performed in an industrial environment involving exposure to dirt, dust, extreme temperatures and humidity, odors, heights, confined entry; may require use of breathing apparatus. Generally works weekdays first shift hours, on‑call nights, weekends, holidays. Qualifications Education/Experience/Background High School Diploma/GED required. Five years Journeyman experience. Experience with VFDs and programmable controllers. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Good working knowledge of all tools, bender, threader, pullers, simple electrical meters, etc. Ability to read technical material, blueprints (understand symbols, trace/control circuits, use print for troubleshooting). Knowledge of electrical codes, safety devices and procedures. Ability to perform simple motor troubleshooting. Communicate effectively via written and oral methods with coworkers, supervisors, managers, and others. Establish and maintain effective relationships with co‑workers; if working in field, also with public. Prepare accurate oral and written reports. Enter data. Basic skills in computers and data input devices, email, application and office software. Required Certification/Licenses/Training Successful completion of a formal State indentured apprenticeship program, preferably Maintenance. Valid Wisconsin driver's license. Physical Requirements Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work in confined spaces and wear breathing apparatus for confined entry.
