Laboratory IT Support Engineer
Location: San Francisco, CA (Onsite)
Duration: 6+ Months
Job Summary
We are seeking a Laboratory IT Support Engineer to provide technical support for laboratory systems, PCs, applications, and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining laboratory IT environments, troubleshooting issues, supporting users, and ensuring system security, stability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain laboratory IT systems, PCs, peripherals, and network devices.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, application, and connectivity issues.
- Manage incidents and service requests using ServiceNow.
- Perform system imaging, software installations, and upgrades.
- Support data archiving, data integrity, and security requirements.
- Monitor system performance and maintain hardware/software inventories.
- Assist with firewall management and endpoint security.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and support procedures.
- Work closely with scientists, researchers, and business users to resolve technical issues.
- Follow ITSM and ITIL best practices for service delivery.
Required Skills
- Experience supporting laboratory or scientific IT environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS, desktop support, and system imaging.
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
- Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi).
- Knowledge of Active Directory and endpoint management.
- Experience with hardware troubleshooting and software deployment.
- Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM processes.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with LIMS or laboratory informatics systems.
- Knowledge of data archiving and regulatory compliance.
- Understanding of firewall management and IT security.
- Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotech, or research environments.
