Software Engineering Manager, Card Banking

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied experience and demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience.
• Experience leading technology projects and managing technologists.
• Experience guiding responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools across engineering teams, including setting review and validation practices, measuring outcomes, and handling data securely.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, security and resiliency implications, and governance expectations, with the ability to coach engineers on compliant use.
• Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Broad knowledge of the technology landscape and the ability to assess unfamiliar designs, codebases, or production issues quickly.
• Experience reviewing and validating code, including critiquing and correcting human- and AI-generated code and building working prototypes.
• Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, including influencing peer leaders and building alignment without direct authority.
• Advanced practical experience with AI-assisted development, including agents, MCP, skills, prompting, RAG, and memory, applied to engineering and governance work.
• Preferred: Experience with mainframe platforms and the release, environment, and testing constraints they introduce to modern delivery pipelines.
• Preferred: Experience with card platforms or comparable large-scale payments and transaction-processing systems.

• Guide software engineers in their daily work and align engineers, architects, peer leaders, and control partners around practical platform designs.
• Set expectations for team deliverables, engineering practices, and collaboration.
• Lead adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices and SDLC/TLM automation to improve delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes; establish expectations for human validation, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and reusable patterns.
• Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase automation value and support capacity initiatives.
• Anticipate cross-team dependencies so products and applications meet business requirements.
• Manage stakeholder relationships and team work in line with compliance standards, service-level agreements, and business requirements.
• Stay hands-on at a senior engineering level by reviewing code, interpreting unfamiliar systems, validating AI-generated output, and building MVPs to reduce risk in major technical decisions.
• Lead multiple teams and oversee day-to-day implementation activities, escalating issues and ensuring work meets compliance standards, business requirements, and sound technical practices.
• Serve as a senior solution architect for the delivery control plane, shaping environments, pipelines, promotion controls, quality gates, and release evidence; turn ambiguous problems into practical architectures, test designs with hands-on prototypes, and support teams in adopting solutions.
