PCT I, Geriatric Med Psych, 24hrs, evening

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hiring Range: $15.00 - $23.32 (final offer may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity) Schedule Details: Holidays - Every Other Holiday, Weekends - Every Other Weekend Scheduled Hours: 1500-2330 Shift: 2 - Evening Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America) Hours: 24 Major Responsibilities Provide clear, timely communication to RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients (skin condition, vital signs, mental status). Provide constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by Resource Nurse or designee. Participate in developing and maintaining a safe environment; utilize interventions to de-escalate patients; if unsuccessful, participate in restraints as directed. Assist patients with daily living activities (personal hygiene, ambulation, meals, nourishment). Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques and body mechanics. Maintain patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention devices/strategies, and following restraints policy. Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, BP, pulse oxymetry); measure and record weight and height. Perform EKGs, point‑of‑care tests, bladder scanning; collect, label, and prepare specimens for transport to lab. Perform other selected unit‑specific procedures (battery changes for telemetry units, checking equipment status, cleaning equipment, proper storage of supplies). Assist RN/LIC with treatments and procedures (prepare patient, obtain equipment, position, provide emotional support, clean up). Observe, measure, and record oral food and fluid intake; refill tube feeding bags; perform ostomy care as directed. Demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs; build positive rapport. Communicate respectfully, culturally and age‑appropriately with patients, staff, families, visitors. Replenish patient and unit supplies and equipment. Request assistance from resources when needed. Stay updated with hospital and unit changes by reading boards and e‑mails. Position Qualifications Minimum of a high school education or GED. Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire (current). Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly and concisely. Basic computer skills. Basic medical terminology knowledge. Remain calm under stress or emergency situations. For promotion to PCT II: proven competency at PCT I level, at least 800 hours and 6 months experience; prior inpatient/outpatient care experience; interpersonal problem‑solving skills. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions Work indoors in patient care setting; requires hand dexterity, hearing, vision to follow directions; lift up to 50 lbs; heavy demands: standing, walking most of time, pushing equipment, bending frequently.
