About the Role

TECO-Westinghouse Motor Company is seeking an experienced Winder II to join our manufacturing team. This is an intermediate-level position responsible for performing skilled manufacturing operations with minimal direction from a Team Leader or Supervisor.

The Winder II will work across a variety of technical manufacturing areas and will be responsible for maintaining product quality, performing electrical and mechanical testing, operating specialized equipment, and assisting with the training and development of junior team members.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Winder I or comparable electrical/mechanical manufacturing experience , strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

• Operate specialized repair, manufacturing, and testing equipment, including but not limited to:
  • DLRO
  • Insulation resistance testers
  • Surge testers
  • AC/DC hipot testers
  • Oxy/acetylene brazing equipment
  • VPI and dip systems
  • Bake ovens
  • Overhead cranes
  • Forklifts
  • Pallet trucks
  • Cutoff saws
  • Grinders
  • Handheld power and non-power tools
• Demonstrate specialized manufacturing skills, including:
  • Metals joining
  • Performance testing
  • Complex machining
  • Test setup
  • Specialized equipment operation
• Perform in-process quality checks, including:
  • Electrical testing
  • Close-tolerance measurements
  • Dimensional inspections
  • Documentation of inspection results
• Use measurement equipment such as dial calipers and inside/outside micrometers.
• Train and assist junior team members in:
  • Stator winding
  • Wound rotor winding
  • DC armature winding
  • Equipment operation
  • Manufacturing techniques
  • Quality requirements
• Operate material-handling equipment and perform complex overhead crane lifts.
• Monitor product quality by understanding applicable products, processes, and specifications.
• Ensure required in-process operator checks are completed and remain within specification.
• Perform work safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Manufacture products in accordance with customer and TWMC quality standards.
• Demonstrate pride in workmanship and commitment to producing quality products.
• Maintain compliance with Company ISO 9001 standards, safety procedures, and other applicable Company policies.
• Incorporate TWMC's Standards of Excellence— Pride, Desire, Teamwork, Attention to Detail, and Follow-through —into daily activities.
• Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
• Work overtime as needed, including with short notice.
• Be willing to work any shift, including overtime, Saturdays, and Sundays.
• Use basic PC skills to check and respond to email and enter information into the production system.

QualificationsEducation & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of experience as a Winder I , or
• 5–10 years of comparable electrical or mechanical manufacturing experience.

• Ability to operate specialized manufacturing, testing, and material-handling equipment.
• Ability to perform electrical testing and dimensional inspections.
• Ability to read and follow manufacturing instructions, procedures, and specifications.
• Ability to perform close-tolerance measurements.
• Ability to understand and follow established manufacturing processes.
• Ability to recognize quality issues and ensure work remains within specification.
• Ability to assist with training and provide direction to junior team members.
• Basic computer skills, including email and production system data entry.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong safety awareness.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal direction.

Communication & Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as:
  • Safety rules
  • Operating instructions
  • Maintenance instructions
  • Procedure manuals
  • Manufacturing documentation
• Ability to communicate effectively with Team Leaders, Supervisors, and other team members.
• Comfortable interacting with customers during witness testing and shop tours.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers and decimals.
• Ability to perform basic calculations required for manufacturing, measurements, and testing.

Reasoning & Problem-Solving

• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems involving a limited number of concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to recognize deviations from established manufacturing and quality requirements and take appropriate action.

Work Style & Schedule

This position receives work assignments from a Team Leader or Supervisor and works with minimal direction .

The Winder II must be flexible and willing to:

• Work any shift.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Work with short notice when required.
• Work Saturdays and Sundays as needed.
• Support production requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Customer & Team Interaction

The Winder II interacts regularly with other manufacturing team members and may have frequent contact with customers during witness testing and facility/shop tours .

The successful candidate should be comfortable representing the quality and workmanship of TWMC products while interacting professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and customers.

• Moving mechanical parts

• Outdoor weather conditions
• Extreme heat
• Risk of electrical shock
