Job Title: Electrical Quality Technician - 1st Shift

Job Description

This role supports a growing manufacturing operation by performing hands-on electrical work and thorough quality control checks on industrial and commercial electrical products. The Electrical Quality Technician ensures that all equipment and systems meet electrical codes, safety standards, and functional requirements, with a focus on switchgear, power distribution, and related control components.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control inspections on electrical products to verify functionality, safety, and overall conformity to specifications and standards.

• Conduct detailed electrical inspections of switchgear, power distribution equipment, generators, and related systems.

• Apply NEC and NFPA 70E electrical codes and standards when reviewing and testing equipment, ensuring compliance at all stages.

• Read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, drawings, and documentation to verify proper wiring and component installation.

• Troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems using AC/DC electrical theory to identify and resolve issues.

• Inspect and verify correct installation and operation of transformers, fusing, ice cube relays, and other common electrical control components.

• Operate and properly use test equipment, including volt meters, torque wrenches, and other diagnostic tools, to validate performance and safety.

• Run conduit and install wiring and lighting as needed to support production and quality requirements.

• Work with electrical systems ranging from 24V DC to 480V, following appropriate safety practices and procedures.

• Manage and delegate quality-related tasks to ensure inspections are completed accurately, thoroughly, and on schedule.

• Use Windows-based software to navigate test programs, manage files, and document inspection results and test data.

• Assist in moving materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 40 pounds as part of the production and inspection process.

• Work safely around electrical testing and industrial processes, following established procedures and using appropriate tools and equipment.

Essential Skills

• Basic industrial or commercial electrical experience with the ability to perform hands-on work.

• Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical codes and standards, including NEC and NFPA 70E.

• Proficient understanding of AC/DC electrical theory for troubleshooting and verification of electrical systems.

• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings.

• Hands-on experience with transformers, fusing, ice cube relays, and other common electrical control components.

• Ability to properly operate electrical test equipment such as volt meters and torque wrenches.

• Ability to run conduit and install wiring and lighting.

• Comfort working with electrical systems from 24V DC up to 480V.

• Basic understanding of Windows operating systems for software navigation and file management.

• Physical ability to assist in moving materials and equipment weighing approximately 40 pounds.

• Manual dexterity to operate digital equipment, computers, and machine controllers.

• Willingness to work around electrical testing and industrial processes while following safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience performing quality control and inspection on electrical systems and equipment.

• Experience working with switchgear, power distribution equipment, and generators.

• Familiarity with various switchgear types and their applications.

• Experience with PLC wiring and network communication cabling.

• Knowledge of UL standards such as UL 891, UL 508A, or UL 1558.

• Background in electrical work around generators and generator enclosures.

• Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is beneficial.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, 1st shift position, working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The role is based in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to electrical testing and other industrial processes. You will work with electrical equipment, switchgear, power distribution systems, generators, PLC wiring, and related test instruments such as volt meters and torque wrenches. The position involves regular use of computers and machine controllers within a Windows operating system environment, as well as periodic handling of materials and equipment weighing around 40 pounds.

This is a Contract position based out of Burlington, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
