Enterprise Architect - Corporate US

Barclays is looking for an Enterprise Architect (D) to help shape and drive the technology strategy that underpins the growth of our US Corporate Banking franchise. This role provides a unique opportunity to influence strategic business outcomes by defining target-state architectures, technology roadmaps, and investment priorities across a complex corporate banking landscape. You will work closely with business, technology, product, and architecture leaders to ensure the US business strategy is translated into executable technology plans that align with both the Enterprise Technology Strategy and Corporate Technology Strategy . As a member of the Corporate Architecture Leadership Team , you will provide leadership for the US Corporate Banking Architecture capability , fostering a high-performing architecture community, developing architectural talent, and ensuring the consistent adoption of enterprise standards, governance, and best practices across the region. Operating within a Scaled Agile delivery model , you will provide architectural leadership across strategic transformation initiatives, platform modernisation programmes, and regulatory change agendas, while leveraging emerging technologies, including AI and Agentic AI frameworks , to enhance architectural governance, decision-making, and technology delivery. To be successful as an Enterprise Architect – Director you should have: Business & Technology Strategy Alignment – Translate business strategy into technology strategy, target-state architectures, and pragmatic transformation roadmaps that deliver measurable business value. Enterprise Architecture Leadership – Define and govern enterprise-wide architecture principles, standards, and strategic technology direction across business domains and value streams. People Leadership & Capability Development – Lead, mentor, and develop the US Corporate Banking Architecture capability, driving a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, innovation, and professional growth. Technology Modernisation & Platform Strategy – Deep expertise in cloud, data, AI, integration, platforms, and engineering practices, with the ability to guide large-scale modernisation and simplification initiatives. Executive Influencing & Stakeholder Leadership – Build alignment across senior business and technology stakeholders, influencing decisions and priorities without direct authority. Architecture Governance, Risk & Control – Ensure technology investments and architectural decisions are aligned with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, security policies, resilience objectives, and strategic outcomes. Accountabilities Development, evolution and implementation of the banks technology architecture and strategies aligned to the business and technology objectives, unlocking execution and run. Collaboration with stakeholders, including Enterprise Architecture teams and other developers to provide subject matter expertise and share knowledge to foster continuous improvement, and clients to understand and deliver on their technical needs. Motivation and leadership of a diverse collection of technologists, business and operations teams and enterprise leaders, with goal to align business & technology strategy & standards, identifying opportunities and connecting people. Assessment of new technologies to address current and future business needs, through a combination of curiosity and problem-solving skills. Determination of the optimal solutions while balancing continuous requirements imposed by compliance, governance, security and funding, through deep understanding of the business and customer outcomes and maintaining a strong and steady grasp on the underlying technologies. Monitoring and analysis of the performance, resiliency and stability of applications to identify and resolve issues and communicate and document key findings to stakeholders. Compliance with applicable regulatory standards and identification of industry developments that may impact the banks operations and controls to enhance the banks application portfolio. Support of engineering and architecture community initiatives to mentor team members, streamline operations, share and grow knowledge. Director Expectations To manage a business function, providing significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide.. They manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business. Or for an individual contributor, they lead organisation wide projects and act as deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross functionally. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions.. Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function. Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately. Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence. Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives. Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives. Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations. Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area. Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally. Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
