Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust plan of care within the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide explanations and instructions to patients and/or responsible persons about respiratory disease processes, intervention procedures, and discharge, ensuring understanding.
• Accept reassignment to other units as needed to meet department needs.
• Share clinical knowledge with staff and students; serve as a clinical role model.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care; provide therapy as ordered by the physician while maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff.
• Coordinate with the medical and nursing teams to ensure safe, effective delivery of respiratory care and appropriate documentation.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy (required)
• Active Illinois license to practice Respiratory Therapy; RRT credential
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• BLS certification
• NRP-MHC certification
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in every-other-weekend on-call schedule
