Accountant

Pay $28 – $30 per hour Schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Hybrid Onsite for training, then 2–3 days onsite per week Equipment Must have own equipment for remote work Position Summary Under the close supervision of the Manager, this entry‑level role develops skills and knowledge to assist in the control and maintenance of the General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Project Accounting, and Accounts Receivable systems. The position performs reconciliations to ensure financial system integrity, assists with tax filings and audits, and supports market settlement and generator interconnection accounting processes. The role requires adherence to accounting standards, tariffs, and established procedures while learning complex accounting workflows in a regulated utility environment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Financial Reconciliations and Integrity Perform reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial systems Research and identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions Market Settlement and Financial Data Support Provide administrative support to collect, gather, and organize financial data for budgeting, general ledger reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense reporting, purchasing, and related areas Support project billing, invoicing, and financial reporting activities Assist with financial services provider activities, including regular mailings and file uploads Participate in the verification, validation, and correction of market invoice data Ensure accuracy and timeliness of weekly market clearing activities Coordinate resolution of market clearing issues with other departments Generator Interconnection Accounting Assist with validation, entry, and invoicing of generator interconnection project costs and revenue Enter, process, and review project cost data Configure project allocation rules and support invoicing for completed or withdrawn projects Coordinate with internal departments and customers to resolve generator interconnection issues Invoicing, Cash, and Tax Support Create corporate invoices Support administration of corporate credit cards Post and track cash receipts and credit card payments Assist in the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns and government filings Research, gather, and review information required for filings Compliance and Standards Learn and adhere to applicable accounting standards, tariffs, and procedures governing accounting processes Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field (required) Preferred Knowledge Coursework in general ledger, project/work order accounting Spreadsheet and database experience Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Business Suite and utility accounting (preferred) Skills and Abilities Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non‑technical audiences Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast‑paced work environment We kindly request that only candidates who already possess the legal right to work in the United States apply.
