Insurance Coordinator

Position Summary: The Insurance Coordinator at Simba Dental will be responsible for managing all aspects of dental insurance processing, including verification, claims, and patient communication. This role requires strong organizational skills, a thorough understanding of dental insurance protocols, and a commitment to providing excellent patient care. Key Responsibilities: Insurance Verification and Coordination: Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to appointments. Coordinate with patients to understand their insurance coverage and explain benefits clearly. Obtain and update patient insurance information in our system. Claims Processing and Follow-Up: Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims in a timely manner. Track and follow up on outstanding claims, ensuring timely payment. Handle insurance claim appeals and denials, working to resolve any discrepancies. Patient Communication and Support: Educate patients about their insurance coverage, co-pays, and payment options. Address patient inquiries regarding their insurance benefits and billing statements. Provide cost estimates for treatments based on insurance coverage and office fees. Billing and Collections: Post insurance payments and adjustments to patient accounts. Monitor accounts receivable and assist in the collection of outstanding balances. Work closely with the billing department to ensure accuracy and consistency. Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate and organized records of insurance claims and patient communications. Stay up-to-date with changes in insurance policies and regulations. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow. Qualifications: Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in dental insurance coordination or a related field. Skills and Competencies: Strong understanding of dental insurance plans, coding, and billing procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach. Proficiency in dental practice management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Personal Attributes: Professional demeanor and appearance. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
