Job Responsibilities
- Conduct evaluations for patients across various demographics including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations employing both standardized assessments and observational strategies.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to meet distinct communication, cognitive, and swallowing needs over time.
- Engage in one-on-one therapy sessions, honing in on aspects such as speech clarity, language proficiency, fluency, and swallowing functions.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams of physical therapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, caregivers, and families to ensure a comprehensive approach to care.
- Educate patients and families to reinforce progress and practice outside of therapeutic settings.
- Occasionally assist with inpatient evaluations and therapy sessions, maintaining continuity of care throughout the recovery journey.
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation that adheres to the legal and professional standards.
- Commit to lifelong learning by staying updated with the latest practices through professional development opportunities.
Education Requirements
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet certified by ASHA.
Certifications
- A valid state license as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment commencement.
