Job Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations of patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric age groups, using both standardized evaluations and observational assessments.
- Craft individualized treatment strategies targeting specific communication, cognitive, and swallowing objectives that enhance a patient's quality of life.
- Implement direct speech therapy modalities focused on language, articulation, fluency, resonance, and swallowing dynamics.
- Collaborate energetically with a multidisciplinary team, including physical and occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, families, and caretakers to devise cohesive care protocols.
- Provide educational resources and strategies for families, empowering them to support their loved ones' progress outside of therapy sessions.
- Facilitate sporadic inpatient evaluations and treatments, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care for each patient.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation that adheres to all applicable guidelines, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training, keeping abreast of the latest research and advancements in speech-language pathology.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required if ASHA certification has not yet been obtained.
Certifications Required
- Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the first month of employment.
