Archivist - Volunteer

This is a fully remote volunteer role.
Random Acts, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting kindness and compassion around the world, is seeking an Archivist to join our team of volunteers.
JOB SUMMARY
The Archivist reports to the Historian and is responsible for the access to, professional care, daily management, and maintenance of Random Acts’ archives, including its organization, preservation, and storage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for providing scans of images and documents as needed using appropriate digital and metadata standards.
- Ensures accurate and up-to-date inventories and reconciliation of archives and records, including spot-check inventories.
- Maintains records of and prioritizes processing backlog.
- Advises the Historian in the creation, development, and implementation of collections management policies; archives procedures; procedures manual; departmental goals, and preservation planning.
- Implements and refines Random Acts’ records retention program.
- Implements current procedures and develops new procedures for archival collections, taking into account previous organizational and cataloging systems.
- Acts as an enthusiastic advocate and personal representative for Random Acts in the community by promoting its resources, programs, and services.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Degree or commensurate experience in Archives, Library Science, Museum Studies, or related field.
- Three years of Archives experience is required.
- Experience in records management.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all professional matters.
- The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience in Dropbox.
- The ability to work independently as well as on a team, and the ability to manage tasks or projects from implementation through to completion.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
