Position Overview

We are seeking skilled Welders to join a fabrication shop specializing in structural and ornamental projects. This role involves MIG and flux core welding, blueprint interpretation, and hands-on fabrication work. You'll be working on a variety of custom, non-repetitive projects, allowing you to showcase your craftsmanship and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and flux core welding on structural and ornamental steel components
• Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings to determine layout, measurements, and welding requirements
• Lay out, fit, and assemble parts prior to welding, ensuring proper alignment and tolerances
• Set up and adjust welding equipment for various materials and thicknesses
• Inspect completed welds to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards and certifications
• Follow project specifications to assemble and weld custom structures and ornamental pieces
• Maintain welding tools and equipment, reporting any issues as needed
• Adhere to all safety protocols and use appropriate protective equipment in a shop environment

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience with MIG welding on structural and ornamental steel
• Proficiency in flux core welding for structural applications
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
• Experience with layout and fitting prior to welding
• Current WABO or AWS D1.1 certification (preferred in 2G and 3G positions; must be in possession)
• High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality craftsmanship
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fabrication shop environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on custom structural and ornamental fabrication projects
• Ability to troubleshoot and adjust welding parameters for different applications
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Reliable work ethic with a strong sense of ownership and accountability

This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
