PAY RANGE: $18.11-21.73

The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division provides these services to people in need.

JOB SUMMARY

This position ensures that the RJKCCC is provided with technical and engineering services for general operations and safety of the facility equipment and grounds. As a result members, guests, and staff are provided with an operational clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:

1. Provide oversight in the day-to-day maintenance for the RJKCCC.
   
   1. General maintenance is provided including painting, carpentry, electrical and plumbing tasks are completed as assigned. Exercise discretion to address emergency repair and safety situations in accordance with skills or knowledge and local approved contractors to address issues.
   2. Work with outside providers and contractors to manage and repair the physical plant.
   3. Grounds are maintained according to expectations.
   4. Participate in the upkeep and maintenance of all vehicles and motor driven equipment.
   5. Work orders are completed in a timely fashion.
   6. Maintain timely and accurate record keeping including the areas of repair logs and other reporting as required.
   
   
   
2. Monitor facility systems
1. Daily monitor of all building facilities including swimming pools, outdoor athletic facilities, gymnasium, performing arts center, education building, Chapel, childcare center, parking lots and landscaped areas.
2. Daily monitor all electrical, security, communication and ventilation systems for the RJKCCC building.
3. Monitor Kroc Equipment and maintain HVAC.



3. Ensure a safe Work Environment
1. Meet regularly with the Maintenance Manager to participate in setting priorities and recommendations for repairs, remodeling and replacement of facilities and equipment.
2. Be first respondent on fire alarm system, chemical spills and/or hazardous materials management.
3. Identify and implement any needed repairs or special projects to plumbing, electrical, windows or structures daily.
4. Monitor properly for any signs of graffiti or vandalism damage to the RJKCCC buildings, including bus stops, fences and light poles. Report vandalism immediately after recording the damage.
5. Report incidents which will include photographs and a written account to the Maintenance Manager.
6. Ensure Guest safety by immediately correcting and or reporting any potentially unsafe conditions.
7. Maintain and use equipment and supplies according to department standards.
8. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.



4. Execute year-round preventative maintenance plan as assigned, working with departments to maintain systems and equipment.
1. Work with the Aquatics Coordinator to maintain pool filtration systems and health.





5. Maintain staff relationships and work cooperatively with the RJKCCC employees and guests, ensuring a high level of service in maintenance.
6. Assistance is provided on other facility projects assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Education: High school education or equivalent
• Experience: Experience in building maintenance and grounds keeping of a large, multiuse facility.

Required Licenses:

• Must have, or obtain within 60 days, a valid Illinois Drivers' License and be able to meet The Salvation Army's approved driving requirements.

Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of all Building systems, crafts and trades: Electrical, HVAC, Refrigeration, Fire protection, Building/Energy Management Systems, building and electrical codes, carpentry, OSHA regulations and safe working techniques and procedures.
• Proven ability to develop, plan, schedule and perform preventative maintenance and repair work and direct skilled tradespersons and technicians in the performance of their duties.
• Basic proficiency in use of computers (i.e. word processing, email, etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain written records, work orders and other forms of documentation.
• The demonstrated ability to provide a service that anticipates problems, efficiently responds to needs and effectively engages the staff of client's departments.
• A flexible style that reacts to changing priorities and displays a willingness to learn.
• An excellent attention to detail, procedures, processes and policies.
• The ability to manage projects, priorities and programs in a constantly changing environment.
• Ability to work independently or with others to ensure completion and quality workmanship.
• Good communication, organization, interpersonal and time management skills..
• Must be flexible with working nights, weekends and holidays.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

• This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.
• This individual interacts with a wide range of contacts both within and outside the Salvation Army. In these contacts, they act as representatives of the Army and its mission.

JOB LIMITATIONS

• This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
• This individual will keep the Maintenance Manager and Facilities Director informed on all critical issues relating to his/her area of responsibility.
• This individual will adhere to all Army policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is required to do strenuous physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use equipment and tools and chemicals used in maintenance and grounds keeping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The work environment for this position includes high activity and high noise level.

This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved as well as the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.
