Job Summary

As a Patient Access Specialist I, you will be responsible for registering patients accurately, verifying insurance and benefits, and managing financial transactions such as co-payments and balances. Your professionalism and attention to detail will help maintain data integrity and support patient comfort and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and register patients using healthcare software, ensuring accuracy of patient identification and insurance information.
• Verify referrals and pre-authorizations for services as needed.
• Conduct registration interviews prior to patient visits.
• Handle point-of-service collections, including co-payments and statement balances, and manage daily cash drawer operations.
• Operate multi-line phone systems to assist patients and relay information to staff promptly and professionally.
• Respond to patient inquiries with empathy and accuracy, maintaining confidentiality and dignity.
• Complete daily administrative tasks, including mail processing and workflow improvement projects.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Healthcare experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged.

Physical Requirements
