About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS certification via AHA required Must-Have: Ability to float to basic medical surgical unit Description: Candidates must be willing to float. Basic medical surgical unit. 36 or 48 hours per week guarantees are available. Overtime is not billable until after 48 hours. Shift is from 7 PM to 7 AM. Every other weekend is required. No on-call requirement. Nurse to patient ratio is 5:1 or 6:1. The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to plan for long-range goals. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as means to help manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of the applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Consistent with nursing standards of practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of the prescribed treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
