Job Description
The Facilities Technician supports the Lead Facilities Technician by setting up, maintaining, and repairing equipment and systems within a research and development facility. This role follows a structured maintenance schedule, performs service calls and equipment installations, and ensures the safe and efficient operation of the physical plant. The position is suitable for entry-level candidates with basic mechanical or maintenance skills who are eager to develop their expertise in building maintenance and facilities operations.
Responsibilities

• Assist the Upper Facilities Technician with daily facilities operations and maintenance tasks.
• Set up, maintain, and repair equipment and systems within the facility to ensure reliable and safe operation.
• Follow the established maintenance schedule to complete regular and preventive maintenance assignments on time.
• Perform service calls, repairs, and equipment installations as directed by supervisors or work orders.
• Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic evaluations on physical plant systems and equipment to identify and resolve issues.
• Perform routine inspections of facility systems and equipment to detect and address potential problems early.
• Maintain an organized inventory of parts, tools, and materials, and keep assigned storage areas clean and orderly.
• Follow company and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines in all daily work activities.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures and best practices.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately for the purchase, stocking, and use of materials, parts, and components needed to complete work orders.
• Review and verify that work orders contain accurate and appropriate information before submitting them as completed.

Essential Skills

• Basic mechanical or maintenance skills suitable for an entry-level facilities role.
• High school diploma or trade school diploma.
• Ability to assist with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance tasks.
• Knowledge of safe working techniques and procedures.
• Moderate knowledge of building maintenance practices.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow maintenance schedules, work orders, and established procedures.
• Capability to perform troubleshooting, diagnostic evaluations, and routine inspections on facility systems and equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• License in a specific trade or specialty is preferred, with 0+ years of experience.
• Exposure to construction-related work such as electrical, plumbing, and woodwork.
• Working knowledge of building codes and OSHA requirements is a plus.
• Experience maintaining inventories of parts and tools and organizing storage areas.
• Familiarity with completing documentation for materials, parts, and work orders.
• Interest in developing skills in building maintenance and facilities operations within an R&D environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a research and development facility that supports advanced technology programs and systems. The position follows a 9/80 work schedule, with employees off every other Friday. Standard hours are on the first shift, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays. The environment involves working with building systems, equipment, and tools to support facility operations, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and adherence to established procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cypress, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
