Correction Officer – Genesee County Sheriff’s Department Position: O.C. #60066-420 Location: County Building I, Batavia, New York Salary: $26.13 per hour (2026) Vacancies: Four current positions, with the list maintained for up to one year. Responsibilities Process receiving and discharge of detainees. Guard prisoners in the County Jail. Process ID cards and fingerprint cards. Inspect quarters for contraband. Maintain order and security during assigned shift. Distribute mail, magazines, food trays, personal articles. Assist in the transport of detainees. Prepare oral and written reports. Special Requirements Valid New York State Driver’s license at appointment and throughout tenure. Successful completion of background investigation, medical examination, and/or psychological test prior to appointment. Minimum age of 18 at appointment. Qualifications High school diploma or an equivalency diploma recognized by the New York State Department of Education. Legal resident of Genesee, Erie, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans, or Wyoming county. Ability to meet the special requirements listed above.
