Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Mainframe

Salary: $114,080 - 218,030 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree, or 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
• We need 6 years of infrastructure experience, including solid technical depth in mainframe infrastructure and z/OS.
• We require 4 years of experience creating, changing, and supporting infrastructure and individual system components.
• We expect advanced business acumen across business operations, risk management, industry practices, and emerging trends.
• We need practical knowledge of designing scalable IT system infrastructures, implementing system changes, or automating service delivery and maintenance tasks.
• We require demonstrated experience working with cloud technologies and tools.
• We prefer Assembler programming skills for development, maintenance, and debugging of system-level components.
• We value extensive experience with SMP/E software installation, maintenance, service management, and product lifecycle support.
• We prefer knowledge of RACF security administration, auditing, compliance controls, and access management.
• We value proven experience in dump analysis and debugging, including IPCS and system diagnostic tools.
• We prefer advanced problem determination skills, root cause analysis, performance tuning, and resolution of complex z/OS infrastructure issues.
• We value proficiency with IDCAMS, catalog management, VSAM administration, and storage-related utilities.
• We prefer US military experience gained through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.

• We administer and maintain the IBM z/OS operating system and supporting software across development, test, disaster recovery, and production environments.
• We plan, install, configure, and support z/OS upgrades, RSU maintenance, SMP/E maintenance, and product deployments.
• We ensure system availability, resilience, performance, and capacity management for the mainframe platform.
• We perform scheduling, monitoring, and operational tooling to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• We support core z/OS subsystems, including JES2, USS, TSO/E, RACF, HCD/HCM, SMP/E, SDSF, and system utilities.
• We implement security controls, vulnerability remediation, audit findings, and compliance requirements.
• We handle incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem management for infrastructure issues.
• We maintain disaster recovery readiness and support recovery testing and business continuity initiatives.
• We develop and maintain automation using Assembler, REXX, Python, JCL, Ansible, and other platform tools.
• We partner with application, database, storage, network, security, and vendor teams to deliver infrastructure solutions.
• We create and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and engineering runbooks.
• We evaluate emerging technologies and modernization opportunities to improve platform capabilities and reduce operational risk.
• We independently design scalable IT infrastructure, prioritize system changes, and reserve execution for complex implementations.
• We automate service delivery, maintenance tasks, monitoring, and tooling activities.
• We independently resolve highly complex production issues and lead troubleshooting of end-to-end solutions across multiple systems.
• We lead analysis of end-to-end system failures and make recommendations to business leaders on the best solutions.
• We experiment with new patterns and technologies.
• We help establish and improve engineering best practices, concepts, and patterns with peers and the business.
• We proactively identify innovative solutions and ideas based on customer and business needs.
• We mentor and coach engineers on design, development, and maintenance of systems.
• We develop software-defined infrastructure as code in CI/CD pipelines.
• We ensure risks tied to business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in line with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
