Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) is seeking an experienced, full-time Network Engineer to support the County's Traffic Management Center (TMC) in Westbury, NY. This is a fully on-site position requiring attendance at the TMC five days per week, Monday through Friday.

The TMC is a 24/7 operations center responsible for managing more than 1,000 traffic signals and monitoring over 150 traffic surveillance cameras throughout the County.

The Network Engineer will serve as the primary technical lead responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security of the County's extensive communications network. This includes a countywide fiber-optic communications backbone, enterprise-class network switches, routers, firewalls, TMC servers, and field communications equipment supporting critical Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

The successful candidate will work closely with County personnel, GPI's Project Manager, and a Deputy Network Engineer to maintain reliable network operations, troubleshoot complex network issues, and support the continued expansion and modernization of the County's communications infrastructure.

This position provides an opportunity to work with a large-scale communications network supporting critical transportation infrastructure and public safety operations.

** Key Responsibilities **

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the County's fiber-optic communications network, including core network infrastructure and field communications equipment.
• Configure, operate, maintain, and upgrade enterprise network switches, routers, firewalls, and associated communications equipment.
• Monitor network performance, traffic, connectivity, and bandwidth utilization.
• Assign and manage IP addresses, VLANs, routing configurations, and switch ports.
• Support the operation and connectivity of TMC servers, workstations, and networked systems.
• Implement and maintain network security protocols, access controls, and cybersecurity measures.
• Troubleshoot network and communications issues involving core infrastructure, fiber-optic connections, and field equipment.
• Integrate new network devices and communications equipment into the existing infrastructure.
• Perform firmware upgrades, configuration backups, and routine network maintenance.
• Maintain accurate network equipment inventories, configuration records, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with County personnel, field technicians, and equipment vendors to diagnose and resolve network issues.
• Perform occasional field investigations and troubleshooting of network equipment as needed.

** Required Qualifications **

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
• ** Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. **
• Minimum of three years of experience as a Network Engineer.
• Demonstrated experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN network infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, IP addressing, VLANs, network routing protocols, and network security.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with technical staff and other stakeholders.

** Work Location and Schedule Requirements **

• ** This position requires on-site attendance at the Traffic Management Center in Westbury, NY, five days per week, Monday through Friday. **
• Regular work shifts are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM .
• ** Candidates must be available and willing to work a minimum of two late shifts (10:00 AM to 7:00 PM) each week. **
• Candidates who cannot meet these work location and scheduling requirements will not be considered for this position.
