Job Description and Duties

To be considered for this position, candidates must currently be on the eligibility list for the Housing Finance Trainee (General) classification.

Under close supervision of the Housing Finance Officer (Single Family), the Housing Finance Trainee (General) performs a variety of duties related to the servicing of CalHFA’s subordinate loans and reconveyances to support the operations of the Loan Administration Unit.

Working Conditions

Hybrid telework schedules are available. The amount of telework is at CalHFA’s discretion and is based on operational needs.  IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE WILL BE REQUIRED WEEKLY .

Our office is in 500 Capitol Mall , a high-rise building conveniently located in downtown Sacramento with access to public transportation (light rail and bus) and freeways (I-5, 99, and Business 80). It is one block from Downtown Commons (DOCO), the Golden 1 Center, and many restaurants. Employees also have free access to the gym located in the building.

Candidates who are new to state service will be placed at the minumum of the salary range.  Bilingual positions are eligible for additional pay monthly.

In order to be considered for this job, you must currently satisfy one of the following requirements:

LIST ELIGIBILITY :
Have successfully completed the State civil service exam for the Housing Finance Trainee (General)classification

OR

TRANSFER ELIGIBILITY:
Have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable (employees who wish to be considered based on transfer eligibility must meet the minimum qualifications of the classification per DPA Rule 250)

OR

REINSTATEMENT ELIGIBILITY: 
Have obtained previous permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable.

Minimum Qualifications

Housing Finance Trainee (General)

Either I

Experience:  Six months of experience within the California Housing Finance Agency performing housing finance-related duties at a level of responsibility not less than that of a Management Services Technician (Range B).

Or II

Experience: One year of experience within the California Housing Finance Agency performing the duties of a class comparable to that of Office Technician. and

Education: Twelve semester or 18 quarter units of college courses, preferably in planning, economics, business, government, finance, or a related field.

Or III
Education: Equivalent to graduation from college with a degree in planning, economics, business, government, finance or a related field.

Or IV

Experience: Two years of experience in housing or real estate economics, such as real estate transactions, mortgage finance or construction finance transactions; housing construction, development or rehabilitation; property management; or residential planning. and

Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school.
