Opportunity Overview

A growing California-based financial institution is seeking an experienced Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist to join its loan operations team in Sacramento.

This is not a residential mortgage processing position. The role is designed for a banking professional with hands-on experience preparing commercial loan documents , ideally using LaserPro , who understands how to translate approved credit terms into accurate and complete loan documentation.

The specialist will work closely with commercial lenders, relationship managers, credit, underwriting, legal partners and other internal stakeholders to move transactions from approval through documentation and closing.

The portfolio includes both straightforward and more complex commercial transactions, creating an opportunity to build deeper expertise in commercial lending and loan operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare commercial loan documents based on approved credit terms using designated documentation systems, primarily LaserPro

• Review credit approvals and supporting documentation for completeness before preparing loan documents

• Identify missing, inconsistent or incomplete information and work directly with lenders and internal partners to resolve issues

• Review documentation for appropriate fees, borrower and entity information, collateral requirements and other closing conditions

• Coordinate pre-closing and closing activities, including document execution and signature requirements

• Order and track applicable third-party documentation such as title reports, flood certifications, insurance and entity documentation

• Support collateral verification, lien perfection and related documentation requirements

• Coordinate with lending, credit, underwriting, legal and outside counsel as appropriate

• Review executed documentation for signatures, dates, disclosures and other requirements

• Research and resolve documentation exceptions and deficiencies

• Support post-closing exception tracking and follow-up

• Maintain accurate, complete and audit-ready loan files

• Escalate potential documentation, collateral, title or lien-perfection risks when identified

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 2+ years of relevant banking or loan documentation experience

• Hands-on commercial loan documentation experience strongly preferred

• Direct experience generating loan documents using LaserPro highly preferred

• Understanding of commercial loan structures and documentation requirements

• Ability to read and work from approved credit terms

• Familiarity with business entities and related borrower documentation

• Working knowledge of collateral, lien perfection, title and insurance requirements

• Ability to identify missing information and professionally follow up with lenders

• Strong accuracy and attention to detail

• Clear written and verbal communication skills

• Comfortable managing multiple transactions and deadlines simultaneously

• Collaborative working style with the confidence to raise documentation concerns when necessary

Experience with Sageworks/Abrigo or commercial banking core systems is beneficial but secondary to strong commercial documentation experience.

Preferred Loan Experience

Candidates with exposure to some combination of the following are particularly attractive:

• Commercial and industrial lending

• Commercial real estate

• Business banking

• Secured commercial lending

• Agricultural or specialty commercial credits

• Participations or other multi-party transactions

• Complex commercial credit structures

Candidates do not need to independently interpret sophisticated legal language, but they should understand the commercial documentation process and know when a transaction requires additional information, escalation or legal involvement.

Not a Fit If You

• Have worked exclusively in residential mortgage processing

• Primarily have consumer lending experience without commercial loan exposure

• Have only signed, notarized or reviewed documents prepared by others

• Have loan boarding experience but no meaningful document-preparation background

• Have used LaserPro only to view or reprint documents without generating loan documentation

• Are uncomfortable identifying missing information or pushing back professionally when a loan package is incomplete

• Are unable to work on-site in the Sacramento area

Compensation

Compensation is competitive and will be calibrated to the candidate's commercial loan documentation experience, technical proficiency and ability to independently prepare loan documents.

Candidates with meaningful hands-on LaserPro and commercial documentation experience may be considered at a higher compensation level than candidates requiring additional training and development.
