Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist Traveler

Shift: Night Shift 7 PM - 7 AM

About the Role

As a Respiratory Therapist Traveler, you will be responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to assess, treat, educate, and support patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Comprehensive Respiratory Care: Provide respiratory therapy services including oxygen therapy, aerosol and humidity therapy, nebulizer treatments, mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, airway management, chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gas collection, pulmonary function testing, pulse oximetry, resuscitation support, and patient education.
• Perform Cardiac and Diagnostic Testing: Conduct and support cardiac stress tests, Holter monitoring, ECGs, EEGs, and other cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures while ensuring accurate patient assessment, test preparation, and documentation.
• Maintain Equipment and Clinical Readiness: Ensure respiratory and diagnostic equipment is clean, functional, stocked, and available for patient care. Collaborate with appropriate departments to address equipment maintenance and repair needs.
• Ensure Documentation, Safety, and Quality Care: Document treatments, procedures, patient responses, and test results accurately in accordance with hospital policies. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license required in Vermont.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
• A minimum of one year of respiratory therapy experience required; two years preferred.
• Experience in acute care, critical care, and emergency care strongly preferred.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Ability to provide care across all age populations.

Traveler Information

Travelers are responsible for securing their own housing, with local resources available upon request. Please note that reliable personal transportation is essential, as public transportation and rideshare services are not available in the area. It is recommended to arrange housing in advance and bring a vehicle for your stay.

Credentialing Requirements

Flu vaccination is required for all travelers without exceptions.

New travelers will start on Wednesdays. During the first week of orientation, travelers on a 48-hour contract will only be guaranteed 36 hours due to the midweek start.
