This person also provides direction and guidance to contractors and bridge-maintenance personnel in the repair of existing bridges or the construction of new bridges.RESPONSIBILITIES: Make bridge site visits, inspections, and surveysDevelop bridge-construction cost estimatesDiagnose existing bridge problems and potential bridge problems and remedy the problems or potential problemsDevelop project plans sets, specifications, and project bid packagesUnderstand and interpret Federal Railway Administration (FRA) regulations, specifically the FRA Bridge Safety Standards (49 CFR Part 237)Manage other projects and perform duties as assignedRespond to emergency situations as needed REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Proficient in railroad bridge analysis, inspection, rehabilitationProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Sound engineering judgmentWorking knowledge of the railroad industryRailroad-bridge engineering experienceAbility to free climb and work at heights.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering preferred, or related experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) preferred, or related experienceThis position is employed by the specific entity set forth in the job posting.Genesee & Wyoming Inc. and its subsidiary companies do not discriminate in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, membership in an employee organization, retaliation, parental status, military service, or any other protected status under federal, state or local laws.Job SummaryRequisition Number: MANAG009141Job Category: Field Operations ManagementSchedule: Full-Time
