Health Protection Nurse

Overview Join Us in Protecting the Health of Our Communities. NHS Dumfries & Galloway is seeking a motivated and forward-thinking Health Protection Nurse to join our Public Health Team. This is an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality health protection services across a diverse and rural region, safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the population. Responsibilities Managing notifications of infectious diseases and public health incidents Providing specialist advice to professionals, organisations, and the public Supporting outbreak management and risk assessments Delivering education, training, and learning to colleagues and partners Participating in rota cover for day-to-day health protection enquiries Supporting governance through risk management, adverse event reviews, and quality improvement activities What We’re Looking For / Qualifications A current NMC registration Experience in Public Health, Community Nursing, Infection Prevention & Control, Acute Nursing, or a related field Strong clinical judgement, communication, and decision-making skills The ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment A passion for improving population health and reducing health inequalities Experience in health protection is desirable, but support, supervision, and training will be provided for candidates keen to develop within this specialist area Why Dumfries & Galloway Our region offers an excellent quality of life with coastline, national parks, strong communities, and good work–life balance.
