Job Description

The Warehouse Worker plays a key role in the daily operations of a clean, climate-controlled warehouse, with a primary focus on the receiving side. This position is responsible for inspecting incoming goods, processing all receiving activities, and maintaining accurate inventory records. You will work as part of a small, collaborative team where each person has a defined function, and your core responsibility will be managing all aspects of receiving, organizing parts, and supporting efficient order fulfillment.

Responsibilities

• Handle all receiving functions in the warehouse, including physical and systematic processing of inbound products and shipments.

• Read, understand, and verify packing slips, bills of lading (BOL), and inventory stock sheets to ensure order accuracy.

• Unload trucks safely using manual and electric pallet jacks.

• Systematically transfer stock to the correct warehouse locations and maintain organized 2-bin systems and consolidated parts storage.

• Inspect incoming goods for damage, shortages, or incorrect items and promptly report discrepancies to inventory and procurement teams.

• Properly label, organize, and store received inventory in designated areas to maintain a clean and efficient warehouse.

• Schedule spare parts orders using the UPS online portal and accurately set up packages to be shipped or received in the system.

• Process spare parts orders in the ERP system, including manual data entry from packing slips to track inventory.

• Enter data into Excel spreadsheets and use FedEx/UPS websites to manage shipping and receiving information.

• Label and organize packages to ensure clear identification and smooth movement through the warehouse.

• Coordinate with production personnel to support order completion and on-time delivery of products.

• Monitor and regulate spare parts inventory both physically and systematically to maintain accurate stock levels.

• Support outbound operations by packing, boxing, matching pick tickets, wrapping and banding boxes, and loading finished products onto trucks when needed.

• Provide production support by picking part numbers from requests to keep production lines supplied with required materials.

• Work collaboratively within a team of approximately six people, contributing to a positive, team-oriented environment.

• Participate in cross-training across four warehouse areas: parcels (picking, packing, UPS labeling), inbound receiving, outbound shipping, and production support.

• Lift boxes and materials weighing 50 pounds or more throughout the shift, including bending, twisting, squatting, and stocking shelves.

• Be flexible to work different shifts as required, including training shifts and the eventual late shift, and occasionally work overtime during the week.

Essential Skills

• Experience working in a warehouse environment with shipping and receiving responsibilities.

• Proficiency using the UPS online portal to set up packages for shipping and receiving.

• Experience with data entry, including manually entering information from packing slips into an ERP system to track inventory.

• Ability to use Excel for basic data entry (entering data into cells) to support inventory and shipping documentation.

• Ability to navigate and utilize FedEx and UPS websites for shipping-related tasks.

• Strong ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading (BOL), and inventory stock sheets to verify accuracy of orders and stock.

• Capability to lift 50+ pounds consistently throughout the shift and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, squatting, and shelving materials.

• Competence in operating manual and electric pallet jacks to safely unload trucks.

• Attention to detail when checking for damages, shortages, or incorrect items and reporting discrepancies.

• Effective communication skills to coordinate with inventory, procurement, and production teams.

• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cooperatively in a small, friendly warehouse team.

• Ownership of steel-toed boots or shoes for safety in the warehouse environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems for inventory management and order processing.

• General labor, inventory control, purchase order handling, and warehouse receiving.

• Previous experience in shipping and receiving operations, including labeling, packing, and organizing parcels.

• Comfort working in a structured environment with defined processes for inbound, outbound, parcels, and production support.

• Self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.

• Motivated, personable, and eager to grow and take on additional responsibilities within the warehouse.

• Ability to adapt to changing shift schedules and cross-training in multiple functional areas.

Work Environment

This role is based in a quiet, clean, and climate-controlled warehouse where team members work closely together and maintain a friendly, collaborative atmosphere. You will be part of a small team, with each person having a specific focus such as shipping, packaging, receiving, or production support, and you will be cross-trained across four main areas: parcels (picking, packing, UPS labeling), inbound receiving, outbound shipping, and production support. The position requires the use of manual and electric pallet jacks, ERP systems, Excel, and online shipping portals such as UPS and FedEx. The work involves regular lifting of 50+ pounds and active movement throughout the warehouse, including bending, twisting, and squatting to stock shelves. Steel-toed boots or shoes are required as part of the dress code for safety. The schedule involves weekday shifts that change over time: an early day shift for initial training, followed by a mid-day shift, and ultimately transitioning to a late shift running from mid-afternoon to midnight, with occasional weekday overtime of up to approximately five hours. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allen Park, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.77 - $18.77/hr.
