This role supports a high-volume plastic extrusion and packaging operation that produces food packaging used by well-known brands. You will work at the end of production lines, packaging plastic trays and products, and helping to keep the line running smoothly. This position offers a stable, hands-on opportunity in manufacturing for individuals who want to learn the process and grow their skills in a clean, fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Work at the end of the production line to pack plastic trays and other products into boxes according to specifications.
• Ensure each box is properly filled, sealed, and prepared for material handlers to move to the next stage.
• Sign off on completed jobs and documentation as required to confirm accuracy and completion.
• Perform visual inspections of products to identify defects, contamination, or quality issues before packaging.
• Sort and organize products and materials to maintain an efficient workflow on the line.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and plant procedures to maintain cleanliness and product safety.
• Assist with basic production tasks related to plastic extrusion and packaging as directed by supervisors.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including removing scrap and packaging waste as needed.
• Stand and work on your feet for extended periods while keeping pace with production demands.
• Follow all safety guidelines and use equipment and tools properly to support a safe work environment.

• At least 6 months of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to stand and work on your feet for up to 10 hours per day.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Comfort working in a hot environment, especially during warmer months.
• Basic experience with packing or packaging tasks in a production setting.
• Ability to perform visual inspections to identify defects or quality issues.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced production environment and follow standard procedures.
• Reliable attendance and the ability to work a late afternoon to overnight shift (approximately 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.).

• Previous experience in plastics manufacturing or plastic extrusion operations.
• Experience working under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
• Prior experience in packaging, inspection, or sorting in a manufacturing or food packaging environment.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish.
• Interest in learning how to operate production and packaging machines.
• Comfort working in a repetitive, hands-on role that involves standing and manual handling.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean production facility that follows Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. The environment is not temperature controlled and can become hot, especially in the summer, so comfort working in warm conditions is essential. You will work on a production floor around plastic extrusion and packaging equipment, standing for most of a 10-hour shift, typically from late afternoon into the night (approximately 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.). The work involves consistent movement, handling lightweight products and boxes, and collaborating with material handlers and other production team members in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Zurich, IL.

The pay range for this position is $18.75 - $18.75/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Lake Zurich,IL.
