Position Summary Reporting to the Director, Games Family Services Operations, the Manager, Games Family Staffing & Training is responsible for the full-cycle hiring of the Games Family Services (“GFS”) workforce, including paid staff and volunteers. They will lead the selection and training of all GFS paid staff and volunteers and will mentor, support, and supervise these individuals both prior to and during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In addition, the Manager will assist in the development and application of all GFS plans, policies, procedures, and operations pertaining to the workforce. Finally, the Manager will work closely and collaboratively with all members of the venue teams to ensure the highest level of service for the client group, including IOC members, Dignitaries, International Federation Presidents and Secretaries General, National Olympic Committee leadership, and other key members of the Olympic Family. Key Responsibilities Lead the recruitment, selection, on-boarding, and training of all Games Family Services (GFS) staff and volunteers across multiple functional workstreams, ensuring alignment with service standards and workforce targets. Serve as the primary GFS representative for interview processes, overseeing job descriptions, candidate evaluation, and selection to ensure a high-caliber, service-oriented workforce. Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for GFS staff and volunteers, ensuring readiness to support Olympic and Paralympic client groups. Collaborate closely with Workforce, People Management, and Event Services teams to align staffing plans, training delivery, and operational requirements. Develop, implement, and continuously refine GFS workforce policies, procedures, and operational plans at competition venues. Provide leadership and day-to-day support to GFS staff and volunteers, fostering engagement, accountability, and a high-performance team environment. Partner with GFS leadership to ensure all staff and volunteers receive consistent guidance, communication, and support across venues and workstreams. Oversee workforce scheduling and deployment during Games time, ensuring optimal coverage, responsiveness to operational needs, and effective issue resolution. Technical Skills Advanced Smartsheet skills for workforce scheduling, staffing, training, reporting, and dashboards. Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint for executive presentations, training materials, and workforce reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, forecasting, budgeting, tracking, and reporting). Strong Microsoft Word skills for policies, procedures, reports, and operational documents. Experience with Microsoft Planner, Loop, and OneNote for workforce planning, training, and task management is a plus. Experience tracking staff/volunteer schedules, training, certifications, and workforce data. Comfortable presenting and facilitating training for large groups of staff and volunteers. Background and Requirements 3–5 years of progressive experience in workforce planning, recruitment, or volunteer management, including experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity. 2–3 years of direct people management experience, including oversight of staff, contractors, or volunteer teams. Experience supporting the delivery of workforce or volunteer programs, ideally within a large-scale or event-based environment. Demonstrated experience contributing to the development and delivery of training programs, including facilitation and coordination. Diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Comfortable presenting in front of internal and external groups. Oral and written fluency in English. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office. The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment. The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment. Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods. Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Work experience in an international, large event or multi-sport Games environment is preferred. Diplomatic, service-oriented, positive, and resourceful personality. Experience working in multi-lingual settings is a plus. Knowledge of other languages is a plus. The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000 - $115,000. The pay scale pro-vided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experi-ence, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
