Senior Cost Estimator - Boston, MA

Overview Keville Enterprises, Inc., a growing Construction Management Consulting and Inspection firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Estimator with a strong emphasis on electrical systems to join our construction management consulting and inspection team. This position plays a critical role in supporting owners' representative services for a diverse portfolio of public infrastructure projects, including transit systems, bridges, highways, tunnels, airports, ports, water/wastewater facilities and buildings. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in electrical systems estimating (Power Distribution Systems [high, medium and low voltage], Railroad Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS), DC Traction Power, Railroad Signals, Communications Systems [data networks, public address, Wi-Fi distribution, fiber networks], Safety and Security Systems [fire alarm, CCTV, access control], Process Controls and Instrumentation), with the ability to develop accurate and independent cost estimates across all phases of design and construction. Key Responsibilities Develop independent cost estimates (ICE) at various design stages (conceptual, preliminary, final). Prepare and review cost estimates for change orders and claims analysis. Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accurate pricing. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to validate cost assumptions. Utilize estimating software (Sage Estimating or similar) to prepare detailed cost breakdowns. Maintain current knowledge of industry pricing, labor rates, and market trends. Provide expert input on risk assessment and value engineering opportunities Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating, with a strong focus on electrical systems, along with a proven track record of success on infrastructure projects such as transit, bridges, highways, and rail. They must be capable of developing independent cost estimates and effectively analyzing change orders and claims. A bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field is required. The candidate should demonstrate high proficiency in the use of both laptop and desktop computers, with exceptional expertise in Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with Sage Estimating or HCSS HeavyBid software being highly desirable. Additionally, they must be experienced in reading construction plans and specifications, and in developing crews, equipment needs, and production rates necessary to execute a project. Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills are essential, along with a positive attitude, calm demeanor, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others. Fluency in English, including excellent written and verbal communication skills, is required. An AACE certification, such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP), is considered a plus. Preferred candidates will also have familiarity with construction management consulting practices, knowledge of federal, state, and local infrastructure project requirements, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
