Assembler

This role focuses on assembling custom electrical control assemblies for industrial and utility projects. You will perform mechanical assembly, basic wiring, and work from measurements and diagrams to build high-quality control assemblies in a small, collaborative shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret a tape measure accurately to ensure precise measurements for components and assemblies.
• Perform mechanical assembly using screws, nuts, bolts, washers, and other hardware to secure component parts to the final assembly.
• Carry out wiring tasks, including identifying wire sizes, stripping insulation, and performing crimping operations to create reliable electrical connections.
• Apply basic electrical circuit knowledge and theory to assemble control panels and related equipment safely and correctly.
• Work with AC and DC control voltages and associated wire colors in accordance with provided specifications and standards.
• Use personal hand tools and equipment to complete daily assembly and wiring tasks efficiently.
• Lift and move components and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds as needed during the build process.
• Collaborate with a small assembly team to meet project deadlines and deliver custom electrical control assemblies.
• Follow safety procedures and best practices while working around electrical equipment, ensuring that work is not performed on live wires.
• Maintain an organized work area, keep tools and materials in good condition, and contribute to a clean and efficient shop environment.
• Support continuous improvement by learning new assembly techniques and adapting to project requirements over time.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read a tape measure accurately and work with precise measurements.
• Hands-on experience or aptitude in mechanical assembly using screws, nuts, bolts, washers, and similar fasteners.
• Basic wiring skills, including knowledge of wire sizes, stripping techniques, and crimping operations.
• Foundational understanding of electrical circuits and electrical theory, especially as applied to control assemblies.
• Knowledge of wiring practices, AC and DC voltages, and control relays.
• Ability to work with typical AC and DC control voltages and recognize standard wire colors.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily work.
• Ownership of personal tools required for mechanical and electrical assembly tasks (full list provided by employer).

Pay: $19-23

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
