Mission / Summary The HR Business Partner provides HR Generalist support in areas such as job code management, staffing, employee relations, training/development, reporting and other related responsibilities. They monitor and provide necessary training and coaching to managers and supervisors on operating within a union environment. Additionally, they complete day‑to‑day administration of human resource programs including enrolling, terminating, and modifying employee records, and ensuring alignment of business operations with Human Resources to exceed customer expectations and meet GPI’s business, cultural, financial and operational objectives. Job Functions Job functions include but are not limited to the following. Employee Relations Lead employee relations issues with plant management to effect prompt and appropriate resolution. Interpret company policy for supervisors and employees; assist in the development of policies and procedures. Direct the collection and preparation of routine and special human resource reports. Assist employees and supervisors in solving work‑related problems and union grievances; evaluate issues and determine remediation techniques such as job skills training or personal intervention. Lead internal investigations regarding unfair employment and discrimination complaints. Staffing Direct the job posting process to ensure timely posting of open positions; review applications and work with hiring managers to ensure proper placement of candidates. Source qualified candidates through advertising, approved recruiters, and other recruiting sources. Interview and assist in the selection of qualified candidates to fill approved positions; coach managers on candidate interviewing and selection. Manage hourly employment offer processes and pre‑employment steps (references, background check, drug screen). Follow through on all resumes and applications received for open positions to ensure proper correspondence is sent to applicants. Perform new employee orientation to foster a positive outlook toward plant and company goals. Employee Record Processing Oversee the off‑boarding process. Prepare and process termination paperwork. Complete transactions for all employee changes including promotions, transfers, separations, approved leaves, etc. Process HRIS data for the HRIS team and maintain as necessary. Compliance Audit employment law postings for accuracy and adherence to guidelines and applicable federal and state laws; conduct investigations as assigned. Monitor and maintain EEOC/Affirmative Action Plan and other legal records and reports to conform to EEO regulations. Conduct periodic audits and report findings, making recommendations for correction of unsatisfactory conditions. Manage the site’s EEO/Affirmative Action Policy and maintain necessary records and reports. Internal Communications Act as the on‑site communications conduit for all corporate internal communications; print, post, and facilitate distribution of required communications and posters. Background / Experience 3+ years of human resource generalist experience in a union plant environment preferred. Proficiency with HRIS systems and tools; SAP is a plus. Hands‑on experience supporting employee relations initiatives and investigations. PHR/SHRM‑CP certification preferred. Strong knowledge of HR policy and procedure. Labor and employment law (NLRB, EEO, ADA, AA, FMLA, etc.) Recruiting and staffing practices. Experience across multiple HR disciplines. Education / Knowledge Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field, or equivalent experience. Skills Superior verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and HRIS systems. Discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information. Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions under pressure and self‑directed. Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees and management. Adaptability to new priorities and the ability to inquire objectively to uncover underlying issues. Schedule Demands General schedule is an 8‑hour Monday to Friday assignment; willing to work alternate schedules including early mornings, nights, and weekends, and be punctual. Weekend and evening on‑call responsibilities based on rotation. Occasional overnight travel (flying, driving, rail). Physical Demands Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8 hours. Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. Reading computer screens or other electronic devices. Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
