Safety Manager

Job Summary CalPortland is seeking a Safety Manager for the Sacramento area to oversee, support, and continuously improve safety programs across multiple ready-mix locations. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures, developing and delivering safety training, coaching employees on safe work practices, conducting site-level safety reviews, and partnering with managers and operations leaders to promote safe, compliant, and consistent operations throughout the assigned area.Benefits At CalPortland, we’re proud to offer a comprehensive, competitive benefits package that provides health and financial support to our most important resources: our employees. The company also has a variety of voluntary benefits for employees to choose from.Compensation $90k-$110k DOEResponsibilities Manage and administer the Injury & Illness Prevention Program to ensure compliance with CalOSHA and OSHA programs and DOT regulations among ready-mix and batch plants. Conduct OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour training for employees, supervisors and managers. Perform and document site inspections, employee safety meetings, new hire safety orientations, job hazard analysis and safety committee meetings. Assist with incident and injury prevention investigations Oversee and attend CalOSHA and OSHA inspections and handle necessary follow up and response. Perform filing of required safety reporting. Investigate motor vehicle accidents and incidents. Prepare safety reports for management outlining trends for motor vehicle accidents, near misses, first aid injuries, and medically treated injuries Manage OSHA & DOT recordkeeping and reporting. Oversee annual chemical inventory at each plant location and assist in maintaining Safety Data Sheets Conduct internal onsite inspections to ensure safety and health requirements are maintained in accordance to state and federal regulations and company safety policies and programs. Train employees and supervisors in best safety practices, policies and procedures. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or equivalent preferredRequirements/Qualifications Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills Strong leadership abilities, self-starter, and highly motivated Strong knowledge of CalOSHA, OSHA, DOT and other agency regulations Must work effectively in a team environment Work effectively and respond quickly under pressure situations Ability to teach, mentor and motivate others Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, i.e., Word, PowerPoint and Excel Must be organized, willing to travel locally and work flexible hours Preferred: Prior work experience in industrial, building materials, or construction environment. EMT training a plus Conditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
