Assistant Men's & Women's Tennis Coach

Description The Assistant Tennis Coach will be responsible for the success,development and overall operations of the Tennis program, making itnationally competitive while providing each student-athlete apositive experience at Hampton University. The Assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach is required to abide by the rules andregulations established by Hampton University, the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). This is a full-time, twelve-month position withteaching responsibilities. Hampton University is a member of the NCAA at the Division I level. Examples of Duties Manage the recruitment of student athletes that are consistentwith the mission and goals set forth by the University; Train student-athletes and manage all aspects of practices,games and player development; Foster an environment of academic excellence among allstudent-athletes through adherence to all departmental andUniversity academic requirements (i.e. study hall, tutoring,etc.); Documenting various requirements that need to be fulfilled sothat the players can regularly practice tennis. Maintain Hampton University, CAA and NCAA compliance at alltimes; Manage team travel arrangements, perform administrative dutiesand sound fiscal budgeting; Coordinate the creation of competitive schedules annually; Assist with facility care and maintenance; Conduct summer clinics in accordance with University and NCAArules and regulations; Supervise coaching staff, if applicable; Perform teaching duties and responsibilities as assigned; Represent Hampton University, the Department of Athletics andthe Men’s and Women’s Tennis Programs in a positive andprofessional manner; and Other duties assigned by the Head Coach. Typical Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of five years of work experience coaching tennis isrequired. Division I collegiate coaching experience or professionalcoaching experience is a plus. A strong commitment to the overall well-being ofstudent-athlete concept and a working knowledge of the NCAA rulesand regulations is required. Must possess strong verbal and interpersonal communicationskills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range ofconstituents. Must demonstrate a strong understanding of and compliance withthe rules and regulations of Hampton University, CAA and NCAA. The ability to demonstrate strong competition decisionskills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Valid driver's license. He or she works in a hardworking, fast, and dynamicambience, under all weather conditions. Must have the ability tostand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterityfunctions (i.e. simple grasping, repetitive motion and to reachoverhead.
