Lead Community Living Specialist

Job Overview Envision Unlimited is a full spectrum of care organization serving people with disabilities from infants to 80+ years old regardless of race, gender, religion, or ability to pay. Innovative services offered across Chicagoland and Central Illinois include community living options, novel day programs, behavioral health services, employment programs, respite for families, and foster care for children with disabilities. Position Purpose Ensure that community living services are performed at a level that meets or exceeds client and Agency expectations. This position supports the goals and objectives of the CILA by providing direct service support and administrative coordination to the clients who reside in the CILA. Coordinate the scheduling of service activities to ensure timely execution of client appointments and review reports to maintain adequate supply levels. Essential Responsibilities Coordinate client appointments, vehicle reports, facility supplies, daily reports, and on‑the‑job training for new hires. Take on administrative tasks and accept responsibility for adherence to Agency guidelines and standard operating procedures. Manage multiple projects or work assignments simultaneously. Communicate effectively with clients, co‑workers, and supervisors to maintain CILA and Agency standards that exceed resident expectations. Maintain and consistently coordinate Agency and CILA documentation standards for accuracy and timeliness. Possess physical strength necessary to respond to situations requiring intervention in client behavioral episodes. Monitor daily menus and ensure purchasing and inventory of food and necessary supplies are maintained at adequate levels on the premises. Monitor vehicle usage, condition, fuel, and mileage; prepare reports to Program Director including accident documentation in a timely manner. Conduct on‑the‑job orientation for new hires. Complete and submit all assigned documents and forms, including daily progress reports, Lead CLS shift reports, van log sheets, shift responsibilities checklist, custodial accounts, and MAR sheets. Handle weekly Paycard requests, household allowances, and receipts. Work closely with Program Director to prepare work schedules and ensure adequate employee coverage at the CILA. Stay current with all Agency and regulatory requirements involving documentation and quality. Attend client staffing sessions, when possible, and implement group and individual programs that promote growth and development of client behaviors. Assist residents in daily schedules, household chores, social activities, appointments, medication management, and financial tasks. Monitor residents to ensure wellness and safety, respond to emergencies, enforce curfews, and review medication administration records. Evaluate and provide training in daily living skills, including personal hygiene, housekeeping, laundry, clothing care, money management, budgeting, and recreational activities. Implement evacuation and emergency drills, report safety hazards, and make recommendations to eliminate or reduce risks. Secure doors, windows, and maintain knowledge of security alarms and facility safety requirements. Ensure a clean and healthy environment by performing cleaning and household duties, monitor resident bedroom maintenance, and shop for food per approved menus. Attend staff meetings as necessary. No supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications High School diploma; some college preferred and several years of experience working with individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Proof of Direct Service Professional training and successful completion of the TABE test. Valid Illinois driver’s license. Ability to distribute medications. Pass agency background checks required by state regulatory mandates for workers serving clients with developmental disabilities. Some proficiency in using Microsoft Office or similar applications. Physical Demands The job requires standing, walking, and sitting; seeing, hearing, and listening; clear speech; dexterity and use of hands and fingers. Work Environment The work environment is usually low to moderate noise, may involve working alone or with others, and includes verbal and face‑to‑face contact.
