PWA Senior Accountant

Position Summary Senior Accountant will manage a variety of tax, audit and other assignments as designated by the Supervisor or Manager. The role operates within the firm’s broader Tax/Audit practice but focuses primarily on prevailing wage and apprenticeship (PWA) compliance and renewable energy–related engagements. The candidate will support clients with PWA compliance, renewable energy tax credit projects, and related consulting engagements, while developing specialized technical expertise in these areas. Key Focus Areas Prevailing wage and apprenticeship compliance analyses and reporting Renewable energy tax credit projects, including Investment Tax Credit (ITC) and Production Tax Credit (PTC) engagements Review and analysis of certified payroll, contractor documentation, and compliance records Agreed‑upon procedures engagements and client‑facing compliance deliverables Research and application of Department of Labor and IRS guidance related to PWA and tax credits Contributions & Responsibilities Complete tax and/or audit projects for designated clients with minimal oversight by Supervisors or Managers. Conduct thorough engagement reviews and accept increasing responsibility for engagement management. Recognize potential problem areas during engagements and propose effective solutions. Conduct business‑specific research – gather and analyze data, interpret results, compile reports and make recommendations. Develop, strengthen and maintain effective client relationships through professionalism, responsiveness and a service‑oriented approach. Enhance skills in the industries the firm focuses on by seeking out and completing training courses. Increase the team’s profitability by managing your time and the time of Staff efficiently, contributing ideas and adding value. Supervise and mentor Staff Accountants. If not already obtained, work toward obtaining a CPA license. Other duties and projects as assigned. Background & Skills Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance (advanced degree is a plus) and 2‑3 years of experience in public accounting, and/or appropriate balance of education and work experience. Ability to sit for the CPA exam or passed sections of the CPA exam is a plus. Strong understanding of accounting and tax rules. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate a level of intellectual curiosity. Perform work accurately and in a time‑efficient manner, with strong attention to detail. Strong organizational and follow‑through skills. Ability to prioritize a fast‑paced and varied workload, and effectively manage concurrent and shifting priorities. Ability to accept constructive feedback from management and make adjustments as directed. Ability to work collaboratively and foster a productive, team‑oriented environment. Strong computer skills, including solid proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel) and report‑writing tools. Maintain a professional demeanor with co‑workers and clients. Ability to meet internal firm deadlines (time entry, billing, etc.). Helpful Experience (optional): Affordable Housing, LIHTC, Opportunity Zones, Renewable Energy Tax Credits, Historical Tax Credits, HUD, New Markets Tax Credits, real estate, developers, partnerships, housing authority, public housing authority, CDFI, CDE, property compliance, nonprofit, single audit, Uniform Guidance, A‑133, forecasting, cost segregation, Year 15 Exit, tax‑exempt bond and HOME programs. Compensation & Benefits Compensation: $77,000 to $94,000 depending on experience (more is possible with higher experience). 401(k) package with firm profit‑sharing.
