Role The Billing Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the overall functions of the billing department, including claim submission, resolution of outstanding accounts, and cash flow maximization. The manager remains current on all payor policies and regulations, ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurances. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education Minimum of five (5) years of related health billing and collections experience Minimum of one (1) year of management experience Strong management skills including motivating and mentoring people at all levels, training, establishing departmental policies and procedures, and managing human resource issues of supervised staff Ability to manage in a fast‑paced environment, remaining proactive, detail‑oriented, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism Strong customer service, interpersonal, independent and team‑work skills, critical thinking, organizational skills, and knowledge of regulatory requirements Demonstrated expertise in home health, hospice and physician third‑party billing and regulations Working knowledge of state and federal billing regulations Strong computer skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database management Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent analytical skills Competencies Satisfactorily complete competency requirements for this position. Responsibilities and Expectations Represent the company professionally at all times through the care delivered and/or services provided to all clients. Observe the company’s health, safety and security practices. Maintain the confidentiality of patients, families, colleagues and other sensitive situations within the company. Use resources in a fiscally responsible manner. Promote the company through participation in community and professional organizations. Participate proactively in improving performance at the department and individual levels. Improve own professional knowledge and skill level. Advance electronic media skills. Support company research and educational activities. Share expertise with co‑workers both formally and informally. Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement activities as appropriate for the position. Manage the daily operations of the billing department, including monitoring and revising policies and procedures. Establish internal controls to ensure timely and accurate billing to third‑party payors. Ensure days in accounts receivable remain at or below company standards while monitoring daily cash flow. Review monthly productivity and quality assurance reports. Assist with the execution of third‑party payor and/or governmental audits. Create, analyze and present A/R performance metrics to management. Perform root‑cause analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements and/or automation, and implement new procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Leadership/Risk Management Communicate clearly and adapt style to fit the audience. Initiate action to achieve goals. Identify and accept management problems and responsibilities. Make realistic decisions based on logical assumptions and factual information. Plan, organize and control assignments of personnel and resources. Monitor results and use appropriate interpersonal styles to guide others toward task accomplishment. Model highest standards of conduct and ethical behavior, adopting a strong position against fraud and abuse. Educate and monitor staff regarding regulatory compliance responsibilities. Compensation Pay range: $67,976.53 – $106,213.33 Compliance and Background Screening This position requires consent to drug and/or alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment is made, as well as ongoing compliance with the Drug‑Free Workplace Policy.
