Accountant I (Specialist) Location: California Institution for Women, Corona, San Bernardino County. Job Code #: JC-523258 • Position #: 086-800-4177-002 • Telework: In Office. Type: 12‑Month Limited Term – Full Time • Shift: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. • Week: Monday – Friday. Overview Provide accounting support for incarcerated person trust accounts at the California Institution for Women. Manage daily operations of the Trust Accounting and Canteen System (TRACS), prepare and monitor parole releases, and coordinate funding transactions with related agencies. Responsibilities Maintain incarcerated person trust accounts using TRACS software. Prepare parole release forms, request missing release forms, and confirm release dates. Print and distribute release forms daily; monitor releases using Upcoming Release Date Reports. Complete release listings for each parole date. Request trust‑fund withdrawals for releases from the Accountant Trainee. Request debit‑card activations and checks for paroles, holds, Patton State Hospital, and Custody to Community Transitional Re‑Entry Program (CCTRP) from ASB in Bakersfield. Coordinate receipt of activated debit cards from the Debit Card Custodian. Coordinate checks with Check Custodians and obtain authorized signatures. Notify the Receiving and Release Department (R&R) when releases are ready for pickup. Prepare transfer boxes containing parole release paperwork and funds for R&R staff. Receive signed releasing forms from R&R staff and resolve discrepancies or missing signatures. Complete 27A Missing Signature Memorandum and obtain necessary signatures. Prepare reconciliation of debit cards released from CIW and camps; mail to ASB via General Logistics Systems US, Inc. Record, log, and distribute California Identification Cards, updating the spreadsheet weekly. Record, log, and distribute Medi‑Cal Cards and other incarcerated person property. Minimum Requirements At least one (1) year of bookkeeping or accounting experience at a level comparable to an Accounting Technician in state service. Completion of at least 12 semester hours of a professional accounting curriculum. Valid email address for communication. Desirable Qualifications Excellent work ethic and strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and critical‑thinking abilities. Strong written and oral communication skills.
