The ECMO Specialist is expected to prime, initiate therapy, independently perform circuit exchanges and emergent interventions, and be proficient in the operation of multiple ECLS components and pumps. Performs intra/inter hospital transport of ECLS patients as part of the interdisciplinary Rapid ECMO Deployment Team.ECMO ICUPatient Population: All ECLS patients receiving VA, VV, VP, VA-V, RVAD and ECPR therapies. Disease processes including but not limited to postcardiotomy syndrome, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure, pre and post heart/lung transplant, ARDS, and post cardiac arrest.Patient Ratios: ECMO Specialist to pump ratio 1:3Department Specifics: 10 dedicated ECMO beds located inside CTTICU, dedicated ICU physicians and ACNP coverage 24/7, 100% certification rate (CCRN, CSC), multiple research trials and publications, and 1 of 2 NTX ECMO programs with ECMO Specialist RN led transport teams.Baylor University Medical Center (Baylor Dallas), part of Baylor Scott & White Health, is a major patient care, teaching and research center located in Dallas, Texas.
