About D&D

D&D Decorators is a locally owned painting contractor serving the Golden Isles since 1986. With more than 50 employees, we are the largest painting contractor in Glynn County, handling everything from a single room to large residential and commercial projects. Our work includes interior and exterior painting, carpentry and drywall repairs, staining and specialty finishes.

We are a hands on company. Work is coordinated daily out of our Brunswick office, crews are in the field year round, and decisions are made directly by a small leadership group. This position exists to bring senior financial and operational discipline to the systems behind it, giving leadership the information and structure needed to support continued growth.

Job Summary

D&D Decorators is seeking an accomplished Director of Finance & Business Operations to lead financial management, business systems, and administrative operations for a growing specialty contracting company. This senior leadership position will be responsible for financial integrity, reporting, planning, internal controls, job-cost analysis, and continuous improvement of the company's business infrastructure.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to company leadership and will combine financial expertise with strong business judgment, operational discipline, and the ability to improve systems across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

• Lead the company's internal financial-management function.
• Oversee accounting, financial close, reporting, and reconciliation processes.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections, and financial models.
• Monitor profitability, overhead, working capital, and financial performance.
• Provide leadership with analysis supporting strategic and operating decisions.
• Maintain strong relationships with the company's CPA, bank, insurance providers, and other professional partners.

Financial Controls & Accounting Oversight

• Supervise and improve bookkeeping and accounting processes.
• Establish appropriate internal controls and approval structures.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and consistent financial information.
• Review significant transactions and financial variances.
• Establish documented accounting procedures and reporting standards.

Job Economics & Management Information

• Lead job-costing and project-profitability reporting.
• Analyze estimated versus actual labor and material performance.
• Monitor gross margin and operating trends.
• Develop meaningful performance indicators and management dashboards.
• Provide financial insight to department leaders and company management.

Business Operations

• Lead improvement of administrative and business-office processes.
• Strengthen integration between financial and operating systems.
• Oversee key administrative policies, corporate records, vendor processes, and recurring compliance requirements.
• Support insurance, risk-management, and contract-administration processes.
• Evaluate software, reporting tools, and business systems for effectiveness and scalability.
• Lead selected cross-functional business-improvement initiatives.

Planning & Decision Support

• Support annual business planning and financial goal-setting.
• Evaluate major purchases, staffing investments, and capital requirements.
• Conduct financial analysis of growth opportunities and operating initiatives.
• Identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities requiring leadership attention.
• Provide clear recommendations based on financial and operating data.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in finance, accounting, controllership, or business operations.
• Demonstrated responsibility for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
• Strong understanding of accounting systems and internal controls.
• Experience managing or overseeing accounting personnel.
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks or comparable financial software.
• Advanced spreadsheet and financial-analysis skills.
• Experience improving processes and business systems.
• Strong executive communication and decision-support capability.
• Demonstrated discretion, integrity, and sound professional judgment.

Preferred:

• Experience in construction, specialty contracting, painting, home services, restoration, or another project-driven business.
• Strong knowledge of job-cost accounting.
• Experience within a privately held company.
• Experience coordinating with legal, insurance, banking, tax, and other outside professional advisors. xhyhwjd
• CMA or MBA combined with prior Controller-level experience, or equivalent senior financial leadership experience.
