WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Health Communications Specialist, you will:

• Lead the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of major national or international communication programs, projects, and strategies for the lay and professional audiences, including innovative demonstration projects and presentations.
• Direct and guide development, testing, and timely dissemination of science- and audience-based products, tools, and messages to different audiences (i.e., general public, external organizations, partners, and media) in a variety of formats (i.e., print, video, Web).
• Manage the CDC website and CDC Office of Communications Web Team.
• Serve as a liaison between agency and other CIO communication staff on agency-wide digital communications issues, and networks with a variety of external stakeholders (e.g., health officials in federal, state, and local agencies, officials of other countries and international organizations, communication experts, and representatives of the general public).

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications : You must have one year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:

• Providing training on program, project, and strategy implementation, to include directing training, and developing and managing training courses, curricula, and tools.
• Leading the development of division, center, or agency-wide digital based communications plans (social media, mobile, web).
• Monitoring an approval system for clearing and cross-clearing communication and marketing projects, research, and messages.
• Presenting health communication briefings or presentations to various groups to include federal, state and local constituents.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
