Associate Director, AI Ops Engineering

Role Description

AI Ops Engineering is the platform engineering team within the Value Creation Team (VCT), partnering with Vista companies to accelerate growth and operational performance. The team industrializes value creation with agentic AI, engineering proven AI capabilities into a shared, production-grade foundation.

As an Associate Director, AI Ops Engineering, you will:

• Design, build, and operate the agentic AI platform and applications.
• Own hands-on implementation across the full stack, from agent architecture to interfaces.
• Help bring AI tools onto a common foundation.
• Partner closely with product, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Platform Engineering and Development:
  • Design, build, and iterate on agentic AI systems from validated concept to production grade capability.
  • Build intuitive, accessible interfaces for agentic AI products.
  • Implement agent architectures across enterprise use cases.
  • Develop and stress-test reference implementations for core agentic capabilities.
  • Design abstraction layers and reusable infrastructure components.
• Platform Standards, Onboarding, and Enablement:
  • Onboard and enable AI tools onto a shared platform.
  • Define and evolve technical standards for agent development.
  • Establish evaluation frameworks for agent performance.
• Collaboration and Emerging Technology Evaluation:
  • Partner across product, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Continuously assess the frontier of agentic AI.
  • Contribute to Vista's thought leadership on generative AI and agentic systems.

Qualifications

• Generative AI, including large language models (LLMs) and diffusion models.
• Agentic architectures and multi-agent systems.
• Front-end development and UI/UX design patterns for AI-native applications.
• Familiarity with modern design and prototyping tools.
• Cloud AI platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
• AI model development and lifecycle management.
• Prompt engineering and model fine-tuning.
• Machine learning and deep learning fundamentals.
• Operational expertise in shipping AI applications to production environments.
• Cross-organizational collaboration and stakeholder management.
• Problem-solving and analytical thinking in ambiguous environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in AI/ML platform architecture and development.
• Deep recent experience (2+ years) in generative AI and agentic architectures.
• Demonstrated track record of shipping AI applications to production environments.
• Strong understanding of public cloud AI services.
• Depth in front-end engineering and UI/UX design.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience within private equity portfolio companies or consulting is a plus.

Benefits

• Annualized base pay range: $215,000 - $260,000.
