Plus you’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Quantity Surveyor within the Commercial team . This role will be based on site in locations around Birmingham, West Midlands. Role Responsibilities Initial requirement to support the change team in the valuation of change. However, progression to a general QS function will be available as the project progresses. This would then involve supporting other more senior members of the commercial team in delivering the varied commercial duties as well as being responsible for procuring and managing our supply chain. They would still actively seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality for our Customers. Measure & interpret specifications & drawings Build up estimates from first principle including net and gross estimates Translate measurements from drawings and specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of rates Review weekly, monthly, section programmes of works Plan commercial activities to meet requirements of section programmes Have an understanding of delay and disruption programmes Experience Required BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent. Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (Desired). Previous experience working in a civils/infrastructure project as a Quantity Surveyor. Use of Microsoft software and in particular a good understanding of excel. In the Midlands, it is Balfour Beatty VINCI’s role to design and build the route, ready for tracks and signalling to be installed. Our work with HS2 Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and then on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.
