Physician - Primary Care

Job Description Join our Team at the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Eureka, CA as a Physician - Primary Care! The Physician serves as a Primary Care Provider (PCP) at any Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The CBOC operates under a Patient Aligned Care Team Model. Together with his or her team, comprised of a PCP, RN, LVN, and a Clerk, the PCP cares for a panel of approximately 1200 patients. The PCP provides primary care services in a team-based setting, including chronic disease management and preventive health. Common diagnoses encountered include diabetes, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, degenerative arthritis, depression, congestive heart failure, and chronic pain. Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation for non-surgical adult patients of all ages, without life-threatening complications and with a wide variety of diseases, injuries, and disorders. Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services. Collaborate with/oversee mid-level providers such as other nurse practitioners and works collaboratively with other specialties (and subspecialties) in and outside of the VA system to manage or co-manage patients' health. Additional duties as assigned. Benefits and Features Expected Salary range from $285K to $315K (negotiable based on candidate's qualifications, credentials and experience). Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Authorized. Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30pm, excluding Federal Government holidays. Telework Eligible: Ad-hoc only. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time-off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification). Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
