Licensed Veterinary Technician - Day

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our daytime Emergency team. Schedule: Thurs-Sat, 3x12 hour shifts Base Pay: $30.00 - $51.00 / hour + shift differentials Pay is based on experience and progression through our competency assessment program. In addition to base pay, we offer competitive shift differentials for eligible evening, overnight, and weekend hours (4-hour minimum): Mon-Fri | 6 PM-8 AM: + $4.50/hr Sat-Sun | 8 AM-6 PM: + $4.50/hr Sat-Sun | 6 PM-8 AM: + $8.00/hr As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will: Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients. Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
