Monitor PositionThe monitor will be responsible for the safety and security of the emergency shelter guests and the permanent housing program guests. Monitor will track the entry and exit of all guests and visitors. Responsible for maintaining the conditions of the shelter, enforcing rules, general office, clerical and phone work, intakes and exits, cleaning and preparing guest rooms, meal preparation and reporting guest issues to the caseworker.ResponsibilitiesUnderstand and enforce Hospitality House Rules and Regulations, Be on time for all scheduled shifts as indicated on schedule. Follow proper call off procedures. Be available to cover shifts as needed i.e., holidays, to cover sick, vacation, etc. Orient and train newly hired monitors. Report to the Director or Caseworker any resident infractions or resident concerns. Provide coverage and security at the front desk. Put out daily mail to guests. Complete meal logs for guests who eat at the shelter.Complete all shelter duties as Clean and maintain all common areas of the shelter, including the kitchen and bathrooms daily. Assist the cook with preparing, cleaning up meals, and menu planning if needed.Prepare meals as needed. Read a daily logbook and complete daily tasks and responsibilities as Document it in the logbook importantly events or supplies needed. Complete all assigned tasks on daily chore list daily. Answer all telephone calls, take accurate messages, and forward to appropriate individual.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: High school diploma, GED and at least 2 years working with people. College degree and human service experience is a plus. Ability to function as a team member. Excellent communication, listening, reading and writing skills.Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
