Public Relations Manager

Location: San Francisco or Santa Monica (Hybrid – ~3 days onsite as needed) (90405, 94130) Contract: 7 months (mat leave backfill) Pay Rate: $85.71 About the Role We are seeking a PR/Communications Manager (Contract) to support product communications across our app and related platforms. This role will drive storytelling, media relations, and product narrative development tied to key features, innovations, and user experiences. Key Responsibilities Lead proactive PR efforts across app product areas, including: Core communication features Safety and family tools Map and location‑based features Consumer AI innovations Develop and execute storytelling strategies that highlight: Real‑world connection and relationships Self‑expression and creativity User safety and trust AI‑driven product innovation Pitch and secure media coverage across tech, consumer, business, and mainstream press Create clear, compelling communications materials (press releases, messaging docs, briefing materials, talking points, etc.) Coordinate press briefings, demos, and media engagements Prepare spokespeople for interviews and public appearances Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, marketing, legal, policy, design, and partnerships teams Partner with PR agencies on media strategy and execution Track media coverage and campaign performance; refine strategy based on insights Qualifications 8+ years of experience in product communications, PR, or a related field Strong relationships with media across technology, consumer, and business press Proven experience supporting consumer tech product launches and announcements Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment Experience working cross‑functionally and with global teams Preferred Experience Consumer‑facing technology platforms Subscription products Safety/privacy initiatives Location‑based services AI‑driven consumer products Compensation: $85.71/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
